deleted all games off homescreen

hi! made an acc because i tried troubleshooting this myself and couldn't figure it out...

I ran tinyformat through my 3ds homebrew launcher and when it turned back on, my system was reset and had me put in info (time, date etc) in again. after that my homescreen was completely wiped except for the built in 3ds apps and my dsiware. luma and gm9 were still built in and worked fine, saved my settings etc.

i tried running a backup i made earlier that day and my apps were still gone.

is this a known error? or just something i'm missing an extra step for? nothing was deleted on my sd card and i'd like to know if I can restore my games + progress in them

Yes, so unfortunately TinyFormat is meant to do this exact thing and normally should have a warning screen before running it to prevent what I did, however I wasn’t the one who added it and I also had an older version so it just ran straight away when I clicked on it to see what the application was.

The games and their files are still there in your SD card, but due to the way 3ds works, there isn’t a way to get them back to my knowledge. I ended up having to completely remove all of it from the SD and starting over.

If you didn’t use TinyFormat then this might not be the issue I had! I would try everything before making a final decision, including an application that reinstates or adds titles to the home screen from the SD (usually used for adding titles of downloaded DS games)

Yay I had read a comment to use TinyFormat to fix region issues… which it did. But that comment had also said it wouldn’t delete everything 😭 In the process of reinstalling everything now. Thank god I made a backup of my animal crossing world this week

Yeahhhh sadly formatting does do that so backups are good! I’m glad you didn’t lose your town :3
