Examples?

Are there any simple examples? 

I am trying to create the state machine, but, when I send a command it doesn't change the state of the statemachine.

I've been over the documentation as much as I can understand, and a bunch of the failure tests, but I'm still not figuring out how this works.

Any help would be appreciated.
