Website Landing Page doesn't tell the compelling story

The current landing page is a delightfully self-referential feed:

Unfortunately, I think it fails to convey, concisely and clearly, what JSON Feed is, and why you might want to use it. Even finding the link to the actual spec is hard!

I think we can benefit from a real landing page. Nothing to crazy, just give a short blurb about what the thing is, give an example an give prominent link to the spec. Something like this:

I'd submit a PR with such a restructuring, but it is not clear to me how to build the website.
