[Feature request] New type of progress display for icons indicator #331

Hi, I really appreciate all the effort put into Grid2 over the years and specially now with midnight approaching.

I'm in the process of remaking my UI, just like everyone else, and I think the "icons" indicator could be improved by adding a different way of tracking remaining time.

With all the restrictions in midnight, the "icons" indicator is arguably the most important one, since it's que only one capable of displaying buffs and debuffs.

Also with midnight restricting addons to only show the list of buffs that a player has without being able to custom-sort them or pin them in specific locations, visually recognizing the actual icon using the minimal amount of brain power is paramount.

Both of the current options for visualizing remaining buff time are very occlusive

  • The blizzard cooldown overlay darkens too much the icon, making it hard to recognize at a glance depending on the remaining time of the buff.
  • The numerical counter also covers most of the icon, specially for 2 digit numbers.

I'd like to propose a third way of displaying time information, focusing on having the icon be the sole way of identifying the buff (since we cannot pin them to specific frame coordinates or use color codes). This is the UI

With this approach, there's nothing on top of the icon so it can be easily identified, and time information is kept on one edge (inside the edge, outside the edge, can be configurable).

Here is an example that I set up last expansion with a combination of "icon" and "bar" indicator for each pinned buff that I wanted to track.
