Description
The problem
Title: Selected text is no longer auto‑imported from context menu into ChatGPT Web interface
Environment
Thunderbird version: 147.0.1 (64-bit)
ThunderAI version: 3.8.2
Connection type: ChatGPT-webbgränssnitt
OS: Windows 11
Description
Until about a week ago, I could select text in a message, right‑click, choose a ThunderAI prompt, and the selected text was automatically imported into the ChatGPT Web interface inside ThunderAI. Now the same workflow opens ThunderAI / ChatGPT Web, but the selected text is not imported anymore. I have to manually copy‑paste the text.
Steps to reproduce
Open any email in Thunderbird (message pane or separate tab).
Select a portion of text in the message body.
Right‑click and choose a ThunderAI command/prompt from the context menu.
Expected result
ThunderAI opens with ChatGPT Web and the selected text is automatically copied/imported into the prompt/input field (as it did previously).
Actual result
ThunderAI opens with ChatGPT Web, but the selected text is not imported.
I must manually copy and paste the text into ChatGPT’s input field.
Additional tests
Using the same prompts via the ThunderAI side panel works if I paste the text manually.
I prefer to stay with ChatGPT Web instead of OpenAI API, because I want to keep the conversation context like in the normal ChatGPT interface.
The ThunderAI debug system is enabled, but I do not see any clear error message in the UI.
Notes
This behaviour started in the last week (around late January / early February 2026).
Auto‑copy from the context menu used to work reliably before that.
