Several Questions

I am excited to see OmenCart. Thanks for starting this project. I think it is long over-due.

• What extension system is going to be used? For example vQMod or something similar to OCMod?

• Will OmenCart will be able to use extensions written for OpenCart? If not, will there be an OmenCart Store?

• Why OmenCart? It seems an odd name. IMO "omen" conjures images of bad things. How about something like "MyCart" or "OpenStore"? I just googled those, and there didn't appear to be any existing carts with those names :-)

• Will the internal "Marketplace" fiasco go away or get fixed?

I would love to contribute somehow, so I'll be watching for the beta

Wait... I've got it. It should be "Open PHP Cart".

I would be happy to install a demo there once the beta is ready. It could also be used for an extension store, i.e. store.openphpcart.com

I like the name because it does not contain "opencart", which will differentiate it for search engines, yet still has "open" and "cart".

Let me know if this is a way I can contribute?

The platform will retain the core functionality of OpenCart 4, so extensions and modules written for that version should work with omenCart. However, I will be launching a specific marketplace for omenCart. The internal marketplace should function locally for the most part, though I can't confirm this fully until the omenCart marketplace is up and running.

Regarding OCmod and VQmod, OpenCart supports both, and I see no reason to change this if it’s working well. My goal is to create a bare-bones platform that works out of the box, with additional features available as optional extras.

I’m currently tidying up the admin code, with changes to how listings are managed and stored. I’ve already fixed many issues along the way and reduced the size by 54 MB without removing any functionality. There's still more work to do, but progress is being made
