We’re using GitHub Discussions to connect everyone interested in the first draft of proposed standard ECMA TC-56 NLIP (Natural Language Interaction Protocol).

This is where you can ask questions and discuss the proposed specification and protocol. Once you have had an opportunity to clarify your understanding of the specification, you are encouraged to provide feedback on the draft.

🚦 How to provide feedback on the draft

When you have feedback that belongs in the spec’s issue tracker, open a GitHub Issue using the template that best fits:

Issue template	When to use it	What to include for maximum signal-to-noise
Comment	General questions, clarifications, or high-level observations that don’t yet propose a change.	• Section / line numbers • Context of the question • Prior art or related standards
Enhancement Request	Concrete proposals or feature additions to the draft spec or REST binding.	• Rationale (problem solved) • Proposed wording / schema diff • Trade-offs & alternatives considered
Error Report	Typos, broken links, schema mismatches, or normative contradictions.	• Exact location (file + line) • Current vs. expected text • If normative, cite conflicting section
Blank Issue	Anything that doesn’t fit the above (e.g., long-form design discussion, multi-topic thread).	• Clear, descriptive title • Structured body so maintainers can triage quickly
Report a security vulnerability	Potential security flaws in the spec or reference bindings. Do not disclose details publicly.	Follow the private security workflow in the template so we can coordinate responsible disclosure

Submission checklist

1. Search existing Issues first—your point may already have a thread.
2. Reference draft sections of the spec as precisely as possible.
3. Keep one logical topic per Issue; open multiple Issues if needed.
4. Be evidence-driven—link reproducible code, benchmarks, or academic papers where possible.

ECMA member organizations may also log feedback in the ECMA member portal.
Non-members—GitHub Issues are our canonical public channel; TC-56 editors triage them weekly.
