Ansible collection to deploy and manage OpenCloud

Dear all,
I'd like to share with you an Ansible collection to deploy and manage OpenCloud in rootless Podman environments:

Motivation for this collection

I like the idea of OpenCloud as a file sync & share solution that does not need a database. My container services run in rootless Podman environments. As I use Ansible for automation, I would like to use this collection to deploy OpenCloud instances in rootless Podman environments.

As the OpenCloud project currently focuses on docker-compose I need to adopt their .env and docker-compose.yml file and create an Ansible role that enables me to run OpenCloud without compose.

Time will show, if the maintenance effort is manageble for a weekend project.

Next steps:

• Deploy in production and use it for some time
• Do some backup and restore operations
• Do at least one OpenCloud release upgrade
• Create documentation along the way

Currently I don't use Quadlet, as I deploy it on Debian Bookworm which does not support Quadlet. As soon as I start deploying on Fedora, I'm going to add Quadlet support to the collection.

What do you think of this? Do you find it useful to some degree at least? Please feel free to test it and share your thoughts on it.

Thank you for your initiative and for sharing your Ansible Collection! This is a valuable contribution to the community.

I think it would be great if the OpenCloud team would set up an Ansible community repository in their GitHub organization, similar to what they've done with https://github.com/opencloud-eu/helm for Kubernetes deployments.

Such a repository could:

• Serve as a central hub for Ansible automations
• Consolidate community contributions like yours and make them more visible
• Expand deployment options beyond docker-compose
• Attract more contributors and collaboration

Would you consider contributing your work to such a community repository if it were created?

Perhaps we can get the OpenCloud team excited about this idea together!
