Ubuntu 20.04 came with PHP7.4.

If you want to install other PHP-Versions, check out the PPA from Ondřej Surý at https://launchpad.net/~ondrej/+archive/ubuntu/php

Ondrej's PPA no longer supports ubuntu 20.04 as it is out of standard support.

I would recommend upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04, or try using Docker.
