I have the latest master from GitHub. The WP.org plugin also suffers from this problem.

What version of PHP are you using? That line is using bracketed array syntax like [ ] which was introduced in PHP 5.4

It's PHP 5.3.

I don't oppose using new language features, but you are alienating 77% of all WordPress installations, which won't be able to use your plugin. Source: https://wordpress.org/about/stats/

I suggest you at least write in the plugin readme about the minimum required PHP version.

@khromov Alienating is a strong word for an incompatibility in an alpha plugin, but I appreciate the legwork. I think PHP 5.3 is a fair goal for compatibility. I'll add that to Travis and ping you back when it looks compatible.

@pkarl The plugin is published on WP.org which is why I used such a dramatic expression. I get people who hassle me over PHP 5.2 compatibility on my plugins. :)
