Support access to Datomic Ions

I'd like a way to use datomic_gen_server to use a cloud-based instance of Datomic (e.g., Datomic Ions), rather than a local instance. Is this possible? If so, is it documented somewhere? Inquiring gnomes need to mine...

This is theoretically doable, but would require some extensive rework. The current implementation uses Erlang ports to communicate with a JVM local process running a Datomic Peer. There would be a fair amount of refactoring involved in order to have it communicate to a remote URL. I am no longer involved with Elixir or Datomic projects, so this wouldn't be a priority for me. If you need this functionality I suggest that you fork this repo and implement it. If you'd like to submit a PR for me I could review it, but as it's been years since I've looked at Elixir code I don't know how good a review I could do.
