Service Shutdown Announcement

After careful consideration, I’ve made the decision to discontinue the service previously available at https://feed.pyther.net/, effective immediately. This was a fun project I started to fill the gap of a lack of NPR feeds, and I’m grateful to everyone who used it.

Due to evolving circumstances and other considerations, I’ve decided that discontinuing the service is the best course of action at this time.

For those who would like to host their own version of the service, the code is available on GitHub. I do not plan to accept further contributions and will be archiving the project in the near future.

Please refrain from sharing links to alternative sources that are not from npr.org or its member stations. The NPR Legacy API is no longer supported, and NPR no longer provides API keys to the general public. Sharing API keys may also violate NPR's Terms of Service.

It isn’t my key. I found the feeds publicly available in the Podcast Index and they still get updated with new episodes daily. Also, does api.npr.org not count as npr.org?

Thanks for your work on the NPR feeds. The NPR app is clunky and annoying, and I really appreciate that you made listening easier for so long.

Sorry to see this go away, thanks for the work, I really appreciated the access this provided as I often listen in cases where I don't have a reliable signal and the NPR app doesn't work.

Thank you so much for the years of utility this project has provided! It’s been an essential part of daily listening habit to have been able to access the Morning Edition programming via RSS and have it automatically added to my Pocket Casts listening queue every morning.

I appreciate your excellent communication throughout this project and regarding its ending. Strangers like you adding value to the lives of other strangers make this world a better place.
