Problem with rejoining old nodes

Current setup: 3 rhel8 servers in our cluster, 1 radiantlogic fid node on each server via podman containers.
We are running into an issue where if one of the nodes in our cluster of 3 needs to be completely rebuilt, we are unable to start a container fresh with the same hostname, is there documentation on how to clear out an old node so it can be readded to the cluster cleanly?
