File formats that need special handling #2

gekkoboot does not and will not support Qoob flash storage for general purpose use, because it is largely obsoleted by SD cards and other storage devices that didn't exist when the Qoob was first released.

This would still be nice to have for completeness's sake. We need to find out what the original Qoob BIOS supports and how the flasher handles it.

Here are formats of interest that the flasher or other software support:

  • DOLs and ELFs
  • VGC (unencrypted ViperGC BIOSes)
  • Qoob-specific stuff (background images, cheat database, cheat engine, config data)
  • Arbitrary data (Swiss feature)

For the most part, all that's needed is to create and strip the header on the fly when flashing or dumping files. I just don't care enough to do this myself currently.
