unpatch: error on loading instrument when started in offline mode

When netpd is launched with the connect at start setting in preferences disabled, unpatch won't load any instrument. Instead, it prints an error:

$2: argument number out of range

When chat connects to the server and closes the connection again, unpatch is able to load instruments normally.
