CardDAV and CalDAV

theme keeps generating CardDAV and CalDAV sync errors and then causes round cube to default back to original theme

Can you provide us with more details? A theme is responsible for the look&feel of the UI, I'm not sure how it can cause CardDAV and CalDAV errors.

It appeared the template files for Carddav were missing - I copied the default templated from elastic into Larry and seems to have resolved issues.

Can you please show us which templates you copied? I'm assuming you're talking about a plugin, but I'm not sure which one.
