@KatyTudor Just to confirm, There is a Xenium analyser section in 'Equipments" tab in "Configuration" page where you can add/edit Xenium machines.
I believe this story is about adding serial number (e.g'XETG00055') part to this. Why does the serial number field need to be separate from the name field? Would it be ok to edit the name field and add the serial number to be part of it?

@seenanair yes if the config page can allow spaces and "-" I can then add the serial numbers in on future machine but the older machines will need this adding, so can either be patched by you or to make them all editable (i.e. if I click on the text to be able to edit it) on the config page and I can add the serial numbers in

If we want to alter the equipment name field validation to make it longer or accept different characters (so we can put serial numbers in it), that's pretty straightforward. We can add a mutation to update an equipment's name, or for a quick fix we can just patch the existing ones.

Current core validation for equipment name currently accepts up to 64 characters:
letters, digits, hyphen, space, slash, parentheses, full stop and apostrophe.
