Performance from V2 to V3

I really like this project. I've been using V2 personally for a while and just noticed that you upgraded to V3. I gave it a try and noticed that zooming was visibly slower.  I tried all 3 major browsers.  I wonder if this is because of the react overhead? Or maybe some other reason that you are aware of. 

Id like to help get the performance back to the butter smooth zooming that V2 had.
