Some indicators are not working

Hi! Despite being using my current smartphone for nearly two years I have recently started to play with live wallpapers. Yours is simply awesome, thanks for your great work. However, in my particular case at least, some indicators are not working. CPU usage is shows always 0%, RAM amount is not the same shown in the system settings, Networking does not show any activity, and in the processes CPU usage shows NaN or Infinite. I'm aware that it could be my phone's fault, is a Sony Xperia Tipo. I attach a screenshot in case this helps.

Thanks for you feedback! Did you download the apk from F-Droid? I have a number of bug fixes on github that are not in F-Droid yet. You might try compiling the code yourself. Or if you aren't in a hurry, I will try to update F-Droid in the next few days.

I can confirm this too on Android 4.4.4 and 5.0.2. I'm running on Nexus 7 3G (2012).
IIRC, my wifi adapter does not appear as tiwlan0.

Yes, I downloaded the apk from F-Droid. I have never tried before to compile anything for Android from command line, but I will try and report back. Thank you and no, i'm not in a hurry, is just that I found this great app and it's a pity not to get the 100% of it :-)

Hi! Finally I managed to set up everything, and followed your build instructions. Everything went ok until the end, when I had an error for not having my device connected. This gave me "moss-debug.apk", sized 189.98Kb. I searched a bit through Internet about building with gradle, and tried using "./gradlew assembleRelease", what gave me an apk called "moss-release-unsigned.apk", sized 177.47Kb. Nevertheless, both refuse to install :-(

Maybe I'm missing something?

Do you already have Moss installed on your device from F-droid? If so try uninstalling that and then reinstalling from gradle or adb.

Ouch! Sorry you were completely right, after uninstalling the fdroid version I could install the apk. Now it shows the cpu usage and processes info correctly, but the network continues without showing information.

Awesome! Thanks for building moss from source.

From your computer with your phone connected, can you run adb shell cat /proc/dev/net? Do you see ppp0, twilan0 or wlan0 in the first column of the output?

The configuration file you are using expects there to be a ppp0 or a twilan0 network device. The file /proc/dev/net is where moss finds the network stats. Either the devices are not found in that file or the format of the data is different than what moss is expecting.

In regards to the configuration errors, looks like something when a little wrong when you compiled the code. The errors you are seeing are caused by the c code not functioning correctly. It might have been a problem during the build. I'll look into it.

Hi! I only have wlan0 of the ones you mentioned, no ppp0 or twilan0, and wlan0 shows no activity. I have a lot of network interfaces but the only active ones are lo and rnmet0, which seems to be the main interface.

Thanks! That is what I was worried about. I imagine moss should be able to figure out what devices are active and show those.

You can try replacing ppp0, tiwlan0 in this configuration file. You can then copy the file to your sdcard. Then go into Wallpapers / Moss / Settings / Overrides and set Custom File to the path of your new config.

I replaced ppp0 and tiwlan0 in the configuration file and followed the steps but is weird, it had no effect. However, I have started playing with Moss patches, and I have created one with the default configuration file and the network interfaces replaced, and it worked!!

So with this it seems all indicators are now working properly. Thank you so much for your patience and helpfulness configuring Moss.

Feel free to ask me if you want me to do any further tests.

Hi! I have tried the F-Droid 0.6 build, and it puts me in the same situation I was in my 4th comment; while CPU and processes indicators work, it gives the same configuration errors and the network interfaces are not the ones of my device.

Okay. I'll look into it some more. I did not fix the network interfaces yet so I would not expect that to work. The F-Droid build worked fine on my Nexus 6. I'll try it on some other devices.
