QGit Refresh with fixes and interface changes

I have a fork on Codeberg with a number of changes to help spur QGit development. By that I mean smoothing out the rough edges, not adding lots of new features.
The main problem areas for me are getting fixes for #105 & #125.

Here's the current ChangeLog:

• Remove the Log/Diff tabs and associated settings.
• Switch Alt+Wheel to navigate commits rather than tabs.
• Save "Show header info" state in settings.
• Add Content Encoding control to set gui.encoding.
• Fix program freeze when browsing huge commits.
• Eliminate delay opening the Settings dialog.
• Clean up Settings layouts.
• Misc. fixes.

The misc. fixes are compiler warnings, a memory leak, and broken radio buttons. Those are tiny changes which should definitely be pulled into this repository.

Development release packages for Debian & Fedora are available via the Releases page to encourage testing and feedback on the UI changes.
The package name is qgit-re and should not interfere with the distribution qgit package.

A conversion of the CVS history is now available on a hist.cvs_costalba branch.

I'd like to update the license of my fork to GPLv3+, but the current license needs to be clarified first. Is it GPL-2.0-only or GPL-2.0-or-later? After looking around in the code & site history I suspect the change from "GPL" to "GPLv2" is just a happenstance, not a formal decision. Was there any email discussion about this?

Being able to see the log message & diff together is a must for me. The DR-1 build just has the quickest & simplest implementation for that. IMO the baseline should be unified output ala "git show" (which gitk does).

The Alt+Wheel change is just an experiment as a replacement for the SmartBrowse stuff.

I'm winding down my work on QGit for now. Here's the additional changes in the DR-4 build:

• Rearrange some settings into Display & Operation tabs.
• Add Tab Width setting.
• Automatically update UI when settings dialog is accepted.
• Repaint widgets when system palette changes.
• Improve find & search highlighting for dark mode palettes.

The experiment with libgit2 is in commit 5d09e7b3.
