What am I doing wrong?

usage: git diff [--no-index] <path> <path>

  commit or stash your changes before deploying

There is a bug on the

check_for_local_changes 

It runs a git diff on the local current directory. Comment it out and do the check manually for now may be , that works for me for now.

check_for_local_changes should have run "cd $path/source" at the beginning I think
