This is more of a clarification request:
Taskwarrior 3.0.0 is released and it cuts with many things of the past versions.
My question is: Is vit fully compatible with Taskwarrior version 3
If not, could we have a short report on what are the features that would break?

I haven't had a chance to test it. Have you tried it and has something gone wrong? Or you are just (very understandably) gathering info before you upgrade Taskwarrior?

According to https://taskwarrior.org/docs/upgrade-3/:

Taskwarrior 3 feels much like Taskwarrior 2.x: the command-line interface has not changed.

So in theory, after the upgrade process, VIT should work the same, as under the hood it uses the CLI interface (both directly and via tasklib).

I personally will not be upgrading until they sync solution stabilizes, it's not fully baked IMO.

One issue I've noticed since the move to a database in TW3 is that each operation updates the mtime of the db by default, since it runs some "garbage collection". This is fine normally, but for syncing using tools like Syncthing where the latest mtime is taken as the latest version, this sometimes causes sync issues---if one has modified the db on a machine by adding/modifying a task and then even just run task to see the task list on another, the latter is the "latest" db based on mtime.

One workaround is to run task with run.gc=0 for "read" commands which then doesn't update the mtime, and is also a lot quicker. I was wondering if for vit, we should have this option enabled by default for any "read" operations too, and only drop it to update the db when we run modification commands? (there's no way of a user "supplying" this option to vit currently, right?)

Otherwise TW3 seems to work quite well but I'm not using the taskchampion sync etc.---still using syncthing. No issues noticed so far otherwise (although packaging it for Fedora was a pain since it moved to rust..)
