Workshop: Future of ODRL

In October 2025, W3C hosted a blog post on the growing adoption of ODRL in industry: W3C Standard ODRL Policy gaining industry adoption. In addition, the Rights Automation CG has indicated that they would benefit from new features in ORDL that have been discussed. This topic may also relate closely to other W3C topics such as data spaces.

Is it time that W3C organize a workshop on the future of ODRL?

I strongly support this idea. From the imec side, together with @woutslabbinck, we have been developing a lot of work around ODRL and ODRL evaluation (https://w3id.org/force) that we would like to discuss on this workshop.

From UPM, we have also been working on the evaluation side and it would be in our interest to participate in the workshop and discuss on this topic.

As ODRL has been used prominently in increasingly regulatory and policy considerations, I also support the progression on work done by ODRL CG through a dedidated WG.
