Static Website - Use new CloudFront Functions for URL redirects instead of Lambda@Edge

Does it makes sense to switch from Lambda@Edge for the SEO friendly URLs (redirects) to the new CloudFront Functions for the static-website template? This would also remove the limitation of the us-east-1 region right?
