ipyvuetify 3.0 status

Currently, if you install any package with pip install --pre with ipyvuetify as a downstream dependency, it installs the latest 3.0 alpha release, ipyvuetify 3.0.0a2.

However, I have the feeling that the 3.0 branch is abandoned, and 1.10.0 is the actual latest release. If so, the 3.0.0 pre-releases should probably be retracted (yanked).

So I was curious what the status is of ipyvuetify 3.0.

Hi Ewout,

The branch is certainly not abandoned. We plan to add this to our roadmap on solara.

## Solara 3.0


For version 3.0 we plan to switch to using ipyvue and ipyvuetify 3.0,
which will be based on vue version 3.x and ipyvuetify 3.x.
For the time being ipyvue and ipyvuetify 3.0 are released as alpha versions,
so users of Solara do not pick these versions up.
Although Solara 1.x is compatible with ipyvue 3.0, not all components
are compatible with ipyvuetify 3.0. The release date for Solara 3.0 is not yet set.

This is not the full story, because you could say "why not pin". But we'll anticipate ipyvuetify 3.0 to become more robust once we work on solara 3.0.

That's just the (problematic) behaviour of pip.

uv has a more sensible if-necessary-or-explicit policy:
