Aka The Tenth Man Rule: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/tenth-man-rule-david-lord/
From this arose the Tenth Man Rule, a concept that argues that if there are ten people involved in a decision-making process, one of them gets assigned the role of arguing against the prevailing consensus. The purpose is to ensure that every angle to a problem has been considered and that policy makers aren’t falling into the pitfalls of group-think. The Tenth Man is sometimes colloquially seen as The Devil’s Advocate, which was formerly an official position in the Catholic Church, where the assigned individual argued against the canonization of a saint with the purpose of uncovering character flaws or misrepresentations.
Not sure if this is a whole Role or just a practice in one of the existing Roles.
