lit-element? I'm confused :/

Years ago i used xtags, then the whole es6 transpiler/framework-wars started...and now many of that has landed in the browser (dom is now faster than vdom, es6 arrow support etc)..and now lit-element (hyper/viperhtml if you will) & micro frontends is on the table.

Sooo..lit-element is basically x-tags with more verbose syntax?
Did we just reach a fullcircle? :)
