At Arrow, a strong community of contributors is essential to our success. We will always need to address how we can improve the onboarding process to bring more people in and align them to our mission.
The purpose of the Onboarding Project is to:
"Empower community members to contribute to Arrow's mission by providing a welcoming, informative, and supportive environment that fosters unparalleled remote collaboration, learning, and growth."
The Onboarding Project aims to improve Arrow's community experience by enhancing three critical areas:
- Arrow's website
- Arrow's documentation
- Arrow's onboarding documentation (guides to contributing)
This project will run indefinitely, but the first series of deliverables for the project will sequentially through three milestones from March to June 2025:
- Milestone 1 (March 2025 - April 2025): Arrow's website
- Milestone 2 (April 2025 - May 2025): Arrow's documentation
- Milestone 3 (May 2025 - June 2025): Arrow's onboarding documentation
A refreshed website reflecting Arrow's mission with clear, typography-led copy and non-distracting imagery. The site will be guided by AIP-008 and include:
- Landing page
- Mission/About page
- How to contribute
- Roadmap
- Community section
- Bounty board
- Snapshot page
Budget for this milestone: $6,500
- A comprehensive docs.arrowair.com built on GitBook
- Well-researched implementation
- Thorough accompanying style guide
Budget for this milestone: $7,800
- 20+ step-by-step guides to organizational processes
- Strict adherence to established style guide
- Rich media content (videos, graphics, diagrams) for an engaging experience
Budget for this milestone: $4,000
The Onboarding Project is led by Sleety (@sl33ty / Gavin), a long-time Arrow contributor with experience in graphic design and animation. It is open for collaboration proposals (contact @sl33ty).
The project has been allocated $18,300 with funding expiration on June 15th, 2025.
