Lessons Learned

Takeaways from IoT Liverpool

  • When we put the lights off for AndySC's talk the video goes very dark (to be expected I guess!). Need to have a think about how to mitigate this. Cameras that are good in low light conditions and auto-correct? Have to look at how PiCams/Webcams perform in this context

Takeaways from capturing MakingItConf (12/10/18)

  • Flicker from fluorescent lights is present. Should probably capture at 25fps in future. Also try anti-flicker camera settings? Can anything be done in post-processing?

  • Room is quite dark. Can we improve lighting or use another camera which is better in low light conditions

  • With one camera it was difficult to capture the speakers as they repositioned themselves. Should we ask speakers to stay within an area in future or have multiple camera angles?

  • With one microphone audience questions sometimes got lost. Should we have multiple mics, multiple cameras to capture the audience when they are asking questions?

  • The projector doesn't capture very well. It might be useful to have a direct capture of the laptop screen(s) to add as a stream?

  • Items on the main table (projector cable etc.) look messy. Need to tidy these away in future

  • Shots with speakers together, audience for playlist thumbnails in future?

  • It takes quite a long time to render and upload videos. Then any changes take a similar amount of time for re-rendering and uploads. Worth having a workflow to determine outputs to minimise reworking.
