Finova Cybersecurity - Task 2: Learning Commands

👋 Welcome to the Cyber Security Domain!

For the first task, you installed a Linux distro and set it up.

For your second task, you will:

  • Learn how to navigate Linux using commands.

"Why do we need to use commands?"

Once you get the hang of it, using commands to navigate through your desktop will be much, much faster (and convenient!)

Not to mention, as you participate in CTFs or Bug Bounties, knowledge of linux commands will be necessary to be competent.

With that being said, it doesnt have to be a boring process!

Step 1: Create an account on pwn.college

Step 2: Connect via SSH

  • Open your Linux Terminal.

  • Run: ssh-keygen -f key -N ''

This will generate files key and key.pub, which are your private and public keys respectively.

{DF626839-9678-4389-AD17-6F3190E0A2A3}
  • Run: cat key.pub. The cat command will display the contents of the key.pub file to you.
{DC4A3E4F-C71C-4AB8-A70A-1556CB207136}
  • Copy the contents of key.pub

  • Go to the Settings tab in pwn.college. Then head over to the SSH key section.

  • Paste key.pub in the SSH Key section.

{3516623B-98D4-4A9C-A036-92D0A57CE457}
  • Run: ssh -i key hacker@pwn.college. Type yes when prompted.

Step 3: Linux Luminarium

  • On pwn.college, click on Dojos.

  • Head to the Linux Luminarium Dojo.

  • Complete the first 6 modules (Till Practicing Piping)

Note: You can also use pwn.college's GUI Desktop Workspace to solve challenges (If you dont want to connect via SSH).

Submission

  • Create writeups (in this repo) for each challenge, with the flag (and how you got the flag)

For example:

Module 1.md

Module 1: Hello Hackers

Intro To Commands

Flag: pwn.college{89T2ov5QdYyikKlBF9wnlLpPBG6.ddjNyUDL0QjN5YzW}

Solution: I typed "hello" in the terminal and got the flag.

You can also include pictures to explain in more detail.

If you have already created writeups for the modules, just post the link to the github repository where you wrote them!

Good Luck! If you have any doubts, feel free to message me or in the groupchat!
