Welcome to the HHLAN GitHub organization!
HHLAN is a Danish LAN party that hosts two events each year — with space for up to 350 participants 💻🕹️
While our main focus is creating awesome LAN experiences for kids and young people in our local community, we’re also full-blown nerds 🤓
That means we spend a lot of time building, tweaking, and maintaining our own tech stack behind the scenes.
Over time, this organization will include:
- Tips, tools, and configs from our infrastructure and event setup
- Custom tweaks to well-known open source software we use (like LANcache, pfSense, Grafana, etc.)
- Monitoring setups, dashboards, helper scripts, and hard-earned fixes for tricky installs
- Guides and inspiration for other LAN organizers and tech-savvy volunteers
We’re not necessarily open-sourcing our full systems like the website, API, or admin panel — but we’re keen to share the things we’ve built around them that make life easier when running large events.
Some of these setups take many hours of trial and error to get right — and we’d love to save others that pain 😅
We use a combination of open source software, self-hosted infrastructure, and custom-built solutions:
- Firewall & network: pfSense on HP ProLiant servers 🔐
- Virtualization: Proxmox VE on custom-built servers 🛠️
- Monitoring & observability:
- Grafana for dashboards 📊
- InfluxDB for metrics 📈
- Elasticsearch for logs 📂
- Content caching: LANcache (with added monitoring and tweaks) 🗂️
- Services are mostly run in containers or VMs depending on performance and isolation needs 🧱
Are you running a LAN, building infra, or just curious?
We believe in knowledge-sharing and learning from others in the community 💬
If you’re facing similar challenges, maybe something here can help — and we’re always open to hearing how you do things.
