I think as discussed in the meeting, making the "step x" heading slightly smaller to make the page look shorter might be nice. |
Hmm, I agree but for accessibility we should keep the h1 and h2 tags, right? Here they are:
I'm not sure what options we have with Sphinx. Can we have custom CSS for a single page? 🤔 Is it worth it? As @poikilotherm said a couple times, we should probably "shop" for a new theme anyway, as the Bootstrap 3 theme we're using now is quite old. 😅 It looks like |

Should we change this filename from publish.md to publish-a-dataset.md?
Perhaps we'll want a quickstart about publishing a collection in the future? 🤔

Yeah, I think publish-a-dataset.md is the better option

Ok. Done in 820a1d4. I'll fix URLs where I can (e.g. Zulip) and follow up to the Google Group with a link to the new URL for the page: https://dataverse-guide--11653.org.readthedocs.build/en/11653/quickstart/publish-a-dataset.html

I've just noticed some steps are numbered and some are just bullet points. I would change them all to bullets. |

@DieuwertjeBloemen as discussed, we fixed this. Good catch! |
|
@pdurbin I've just edited the svg's for the buttons to be skinnier and to have some padding around them. They're in the google folder and the file names stayed the same |
|
@DieuwertjeBloemen thanks! I just copied the new buttons over in this commit: a8cb986 |

do we want to add something like "to request/obtain the required permissions"?

No, because depending on Dataverse set-ups and policies, it might just be that they don't get that option (e.g. institutional repositories). This way it's clear enough to contact support without creating expectations that might not be realistic for all Dataverse set-ups. Also, sometimes they don't see the button because they're e.g. on the My Data page. So, it could have several reasons as wel... So, to keep short and clear, just mentioning of asking for support.

not sure why this is repeated, unless we want to say that a collection can host other collections

Mistake on my part probably when copying in stuff from the Dataverse about pages. Duplication can be taken out.

do we want to say that metadata blocks are configurable at the collection level?

No, this is a page with the most basic explanation of what dataverse is for several types of users and installations. This is too specific of a feature/point to mention here, I believe.
