I don't think this is different with the new Lucene version, but I noticed in quick local testing that searches were quite sluggish. I've got a lot of workbooks locally, and we're spending a ton of time in SearchService.SearchCategory.getPermittedContainerIds() implementations. I'll file a separate issue.
