A repository of code that interacts with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

AutoEC2

This script is an interactive way to create EC2 instances with pre-installed commonly used software

Getting Started

You must have an AWS account to use this script, you can sign up for a free account here: https://portal.aws.amazon.com/billing/signup?#/start

It's recommended that you also install AWS-CLI, however, the script can handle creating the configuration files for you. You will need access to your access key to create new configuration files; to create a new access key, visit this link: https://console.aws.amazon.com/iam/home?#/security_credentials

Ensure that you have Python and virtualenv installed, set up your environment and install the required dependencies like this:

Unix:

cd AutoEC2
python3 -m virtualenv venv
source venv/bin/activate
pip install -r requirements.txt

Windows:

cd AutoEC2
py -m venv venv
call venv/scripts/activate
pip install -r requirements.txt

Run the script by calling the following:

Unix:

python3 main.py

Windows:

py main.py

Then follow the interactive prompts.

Step 1:

Edit the config.py file with the desired values for your instance.

Step 2:

pip install -r requirements.txt

Windows:

cd AutoEC2
py -m venv venv
call venv/scripts/activate

Unix:

python3 main.py

Windows:

py main.py

If successful, you will receive a response with the instance details.
