💡 What:

  • Replaced on:keyup with on:input in DomainSearch.svelte.
  • Added a check in search() to prevent redundant API calls if the search term hasn't changed.
  • Implemented race condition handling in search() by verifying the current search term against the completed request's term.
  • Wrapped the API call in try/catch to ensure isLoading state is correctly reset and errors are logged.
  • Updated debounceTimer type to ReturnType<typeof setTimeout>.

🎯 Why:

  • Using on:keyup triggered unnecessary searches for non-character keys (e.g., Shift, Arrow keys). on:input ensures searches only happen when the value actually changes.
  • Redundant searches wasted network bandwidth and processing.
  • Race conditions could lead to stale results overwriting newer results (e.g., typing 'ab' fast: 'a' returns after 'ab' started, overwriting 'ab' result).
  • debounceTimer type fix resolves TypeScript issues in browser environment.

📊 Impact:

  • Reduces redundant API calls significantly during typing.
  • Eliminates race conditions for accurate search results.
  • Improves type safety.

🔬 Measurement:

  • Verified that typing triggers search correctly via Playwright script.
  • Verified that search results are displayed.
  • Validated race condition logic via code review.

…ndling

- Replace `on:keyup` with `on:input` to avoid redundant searches on non-character keys.
- Add duplicate search check to prevent unnecessary API calls.
- Implement race condition handling to discard stale responses.
- Fix `debounceTimer` type for browser compatibility.
- Wrap API call in try/catch to ensure loading state reset.
