Technical Writing

Syntax:

  • Markdown Formatting:
    • Headings: Use #, ##, ### for heading levels.
    • Bold and Italic: Use bold and italic formatting.
    • Lists: Use -, *, or + for bullet points and numbers for numbered lists.
    • Code Blocks: Use ``` to denote code blocks.
    • Links: Use [text](url) to create links.
    • Images: Use ![alt text](url) for images.
    • Tables: Use a simple syntax like | Column 1 | Column 2 | to create tables.

Structure: A README file typically consists of several sections to cover different aspects of the project. Here's a standard structure with explanations for each part:

  1. Project Name

    • At the top of the file, use a heading for your project name. You can make it stand out by using the largest header (# Project Name).

  2. Logo (Optional)

    • If your project has a logo, you can include it right below the title.

  3. Table of Contents (Optional)

    • Give an overview of what the reader can expect in the README.

    • Clear instructions on how to install the project.
    • Different methods (if available) and requirements needed.
