Ideally we should merge this content with the deployment docs and then delete it. But I'd be fine with merging this as an intermediate step.

Thanks to @cowanml for indirectly pointing to the obsolete/misleading documentation. This PR attempts to fix it, including the fixes of broken conda links, and so on.
Do we want to keep this section at all? It still has some useful and actual information.
