In this doc, you'll learn: tips and best practices for manufacturing 3D verkistan face shield frames.

Before You Begin

  • Contact the people you're sending your frames to, and find out if they have any special requests or requirements. The tips below are best practices we've found, but every organization is different with their own needs.

3D Printed Frames Best Practices

  • Printer pattern: link TBD
  • Print the highest quality prints you can, even if it's slow. Don't send low-quality prints with jagged edges, filament hairs or other imperfections; these are hard to pack and uncomfortable to wear. Volume is best achieved by many people each contributing a modest amount of high quality prints. See Verk Quality Control for more info.
  • Use the pattern requested by the people you're sending these frames to. The key to speed and scale is consistency; it's a major drain on time for distribution to process many different styles of frame.
  • Pack them in 10 stacks if you have time. Video demo: Stacking and Packing Pt. 1. In order to distribute frames at scale, they have to be nicely stacked per the video. This is a huge amount of work if your distribution node needs to do it all themselves; help out by stacking for them. If you don't have time to stack, best to just ship them loose - no need to individually bag your frames, that just creates an extra un-bagging step.

Injection Molded Frames Best Practices

  • Get a single-piece mold if possible. Two-piece molds can create a seam on the forehead which some people find annoying.
