My Reflection
For this course, my hypothetical client “The Gaming Room”, wanted me to design a web-based game called Draw It or Lose It that works across Windows, Mac, Linux, and mobile devices, with a scalable server and a responsive user interface. I think I did well in creating clear documentation that explained architecture, platform choices, storage and memory management, distributed systems, and security. Working through the design document helped me think through the overall structure and organization of the software, anticipate potential challenges, and plan how different components would interact. If I could revise one part, I would expand the section on distributed systems and networks to include more about handling network latency and synchronization. I interpreted user needs by focusing on performance, security, and cross-platform accessibility, which is essential to ensure the software design would meet the requirements and provide a good experience for the end users. When designing any software, I break the application down into smaller components, plan how they all would interact, and choose appropriate tools and architectures. In the future, I am going to continue using modular design along with early planning for testing and deployment to create software that is reliable and scalable.
