Implemented Vercel Web Analytics for Next.js

TASK COMPLETED:
Successfully installed and configured Vercel Web Analytics for the toc-schedule Next.js project.

PROJECT DETAILS:

  • Project Type: Next.js 16.0.10 with App Router
  • Project Structure: Uses src/app directory (modern structure)
  • Package Manager: npm
  • TypeScript: Yes (tsconfig.json configured)

CHANGES MADE:

  1. Package Installation:

    • Installed @vercel/analytics@^1.6.1 using npm
    • Updated package.json with new dependency
    • Updated package-lock.json with all transitive dependencies (382 packages added)
  2. Root Layout Integration (src/app/layout.tsx):

    • Added import: import { Analytics } from "@vercel/analytics/next";
    • Added <Analytics /> component inside the tag, after {children}
    • Preserved all existing code structure and styling

VERIFICATION RESULTS:
✓ Build completed successfully with Turbopack

  • 14 static pages generated
  • All API routes compiled without errors
  • No TypeScript errors introduced

✓ Linter check passed

  • No new errors introduced by changes
  • Pre-existing warnings in other files remain unchanged

✓ All lock files updated

  • package-lock.json regenerated with @vercel/analytics and dependencies

IMPLEMENTATION NOTES:

  • The Analytics component is properly placed in the root layout, ensuring it tracks all pages
  • Since this is a root layout component, the Analytics provider will wrap all routes
  • The component is placed after {children} as recommended, ensuring proper DOM structure
  • No configuration needed for basic analytics tracking - the component works out of the box
  • Analytics data will be collected automatically when deployed to Vercel
