Easily split, group, and merge your Anki subdecks.
Subdeck Manager is a helpful tool for Anki that lets you manage big decks. You can break a large deck into smaller subdecks to make studying easier. When you are finished, you can combine the subdecks back into the main deck.
Have a huge deck you want to break into smaller parts? Maybe for weekly study or different topics? Doing this by hand is slow and messy.
Subdeck Manager does all the work for you. In a few clicks, you can split a big deck into equal parts. When you're done, you can combine them back together just as easily. It's a great tool for students and language learners who want to organize their decks.
- Easy Access: Use the gear icon (⚙️) next to any deck to open the tool.
- Two Ways to Split:
- By Number of Decks: Choose a set number of subdecks (like 5), and the cards will be split evenly.
- By Number of Cards: Choose how many cards you want in each subdeck (like 50), and the tool will make as many as it needs.
- Easy Merge: A "Merge Subdecks" button moves all cards from your subdecks back into the main deck. You can also choose to delete the empty subdecks.
- Smart Suggestions: The add-on looks at your subdecks and suggests the next name and number for you.
- Keeps Notes Together: All cards from one note (like front/back cards) always stay in the same subdeck.
- You Are in Control:
- Pick a name for your subdecks (like Part, Chapter, or Week).
- Choose the starting number (like
01,06, etc.). - Mix up your notes or keep them in order.
- Safe and Reliable:

- The tool will warn you if you might change a deck you did not mean to.
- Every action can be undone with Anki's "Undo" button.
