Setting up groups
To set up a group, you will need the id's of the switches you want to have in the group. You can combine any manufacturer of switches into a single group. A group can only switch on/off all members of the group. It is not capable of turning some on and some off. If you want this kind of behavior, go to the Mood page.
Note that in the current setting, a group will turn the switches on/off one by one. You will experience this as first one light going on/off and then the next etc.. This behavior is expected and necessary in order to combine different manufactures in a single group.
Setting up a group is easy. You will have to have already set up one or more normal switches. Since you have done this, you will now how to create a new document in the database. Creating a group is nothing more than creating a new document, which contains a list of id's. Below is an example document available.
{
"_id":"media",
"name":"Entertainment",
"doctype":"switch",
"type":"group",
"on":["tv","muziek"]
}- The id field is free to fill, but it may be useful to use a logical name.
- The name field is what is displayed on the webpage. So pick any name you like.
- The doctype field is not free, it must have the value switch.
- The type field is not free as well, it must be group.
- The list field is semi free. It should contain only existing id's of switches. It is not tested what happens if you fill in a non-existing id, or an id of another group/mood.
