This repository contains the source for The MayaNut Company website — a fast, static, multi-page site built to introduce MayaNut (Brosimum alicastrum; also known as ramón and ojoche) and to support a store-first experience as products come online.

The goal is simple: when people arrive, they should quickly find products first — and deeper learning second (for those who want it).

Status

  • 🚧 Active development
  • 🌍 Multi-language structure (English live; additional languages in progress)
  • Static hosting (GitHub Pages)
  • ⛓️ No dependencies (vanilla HTML/CSS/JS)
  • 🔍 SEO-ready (metadata, semantic markup, alt text, canonical links, structured data)

What this site is for

  • Commerce-forward landing experience (store preview + future storefront)
  • Brand hub for MayaNut and The MayaNut Company
  • Research + reference pages for those who want depth
  • Gallery + field documentation (nursery, trees, fruit, product concepts)

Primary fieldwork and trials are based in South Florida, USA.

Key features (current)

  • Store-first homepage layout with a clean product grid (concept preview)
  • Responsive UI for desktop and mobile
  • Multi-page navigation (Home, About, Research, Gallery, Contact, Privacy, Terms)
  • Accessibility panel + language selection UI
  • Image performance via loading="lazy" + decoding="async" (where applicable)
  • SEO foundations (titles/descriptions, canonical, Open Graph/Twitter tags, structured data)

Note: “Store” elements may be conceptual until production is live.

Tech stack

  • HTML5 — structure + semantic SEO
  • CSS3 — layout, responsiveness, brand styling
  • Vanilla JavaScript — UI logic (menus, overlays, search/filter, toggles)
  • GitHub Pages — static hosting

Repository structure (typical)
