Getting started
Welcome to NekoSMS! This tutorial will teach you how to write some basic filter rules (for experienced users, you might want to read the advanced guide instead). To get started, first make sure you are on the Blacklist rules page:
This is where all your blacklist filter rules are located (after you create them, of course).
Let's create a new filter rule! Click the pink create button at the bottom-right, which opens the filter rule editor:
First, select the Body tab at the top. This means that our filter rule will match against the message text, not the phone number of the sender.
Next, enter the keyword(s) that you want to block in the Pattern textbox. Here, I have entered cat facts, but you can type whatever you want, of course.
For now, you can leave the Mode and Case options unchanged. These control how the text is matched against your pattern. Contains means that we are checking if the text contains your keyword(s), and Insensitive means that we are ignoring the case of the text (e.g. Cat facts, CaT fAcTs, and CAT FACTS will all match this rule).
Your screen should now look like this:
Now save your filter rule by pressing the checkmark at the top-left. You should return to the filter list page:
Congratulations! You've just written your first filter rule! Now try sending yourself a message containing the keywords you typed earlier.
You can see all your blocked messages by going to the Blocked messages page:
