I opened this PR a long while ago, then declined it and had to fix it...
I do use my fork in a useful CLI (which I cannot open source, unfortunately), for which this
inprooved to be very helpful (the user can set his own query from the command line, and this makes simple filtering very easy)All that to say that after these weeks of use, I came to believe these additions, although hardly tested, are useful.
