ICE CLI defines the command-line interaction surface of the ICE ecosystem.
It is intended to provide a scriptable, automatable, and inspectable interface for interacting with ICE systems, complementing graphical environments such as ICE Studio.
ICE CLI is not a primary control plane. It is a convenience interface built on top of existing ICE domains.
ICE CLI is a downstream interaction tool.
- Conceptual authority is defined by ICE Foundation
- Execution and enforcement are handled by ICE Runtime / Engine
- Intelligence and reasoning belong to ICE AI
- Interaction contracts are defined by ICE API and ICE Protocols
ICE CLI does not introduce new semantics. It exposes existing ones.
ICE CLI exists to:
- provide terminal-based access to ICE systems
- support automation and scripting workflows
- enable inspection and diagnostics without a UI
- prototype developer-facing commands and flows
- complement ICE Studio for advanced users
It is designed for developers and system operators.
ICE CLI is:
- a developer-facing interface
- a thin interaction layer
- a tool for inspection, control, and automation
- a bridge between ICE systems and shell environments
It makes ICE accessible from scripts and pipelines without bypassing governance.
ICE CLI is not:
- an execution engine
- an authority layer
- a substitute for Runtime or Engine
- a source of business logic
- a shortcut around ICE constraints
Commands do not decide. Commands do not authorize. Commands do not execute independently.
Planned and exploratory areas may include:
- runtime and system inspection
- agent and workflow interaction
- execution status and diagnostics
- analytics and summaries
- guided and interactive CLI flows
- shell completion and ergonomics
- integration with CI/CD and automation tools
Exact command structure and scope are intentionally left flexible.
ICE CLI is currently pre-release and preparatory.
- command structure is not stable
- flags and output formats may change
- workflows are subject to redesign
- backward compatibility is not guaranteed
This is expected.
CLI design depends on the maturation of Runtime, Engine, and Studio.
ICE CLI is not intended for production use at this stage.
It will become a supported interface only after:
- core ICE domains stabilize
- interaction patterns are validated
- governance and authority boundaries are fully exercised
Until then, this repository functions as a design and experimentation space.
ICE CLI is non-authoritative.
If this repository were removed, the ICE ecosystem would remain valid and complete.
ICE CLI exists to make ICE accessible, not true.
ICE CLI is in a pre-release phase.
Expect rapid iteration and change.
Graphical interfaces help humans explore.
Command-line interfaces help humans automate.
ICE CLI exists for the second case — when understanding is already earned.
