Parameters

Giacomo Falchetta edited this page Jul 24, 2020 · 2 revisions

General parameters affecting the results are found at various locations of the M-LED platform. However, gradually, they are been moved to two a location tne scenario_baseline.py file.

This script includes information to be manually adjusted by the user on the country/region under analysis, its population and electrcity access level, the planning horizon, and techno-economic parameters of efficiency, costs, the discount rate, and physical constraints.

Most of the current values are 'good-to-go' , but each parameter is commented to allow for an understanding of its significance.

Parameter Description
countryiso3 Official ISO3 code of the country analysed (useful for file naming convention)
national_official_population National population in year today
national_official_elrate Share of people with electricity access in year today
today Start year for the analysis
threshold_surfacewater_distance Distance threshold which discriminates if groundwater pumping is necessary or a surface pump is enough, in meters
threshold_groundwater_pumping Maximum depth at which the model allows for water pumping: beyond it, no possibility to install the pump, in meters
nhours_irr Daily average hours of artificial irrigation
eta_pump Efficiency of the water pump
discount_rate Discount rate, for net present cost calculation purposes
fuel_consumption Average fuel consumption in liters per hour, for transportation cost calculation purposes
fuel_cost Baseline fuel cost (USD/liter)
truck_bearing_t Average load of the truck (tons)
LCOE_for_pumping Average LCOE for water pumping
lifetimepump Lifetime of the pump in years
***_app_cost Total upfront cost of appliances (based on appliance baskets reported in .\ramp\Households.xlsx and .\ramp\Services.xlsx), in USD
