uses the built in mdx support in tsconfig and jsdoc style declarations to get us most of what we want.
it doesn't currently prevent us from not passing data that we declare, which isn't my favorite, but it does make it harder to forget. we could add wrapped types to
renderMDXso that it shares the type more directly with the mdx file, but thought this was a good start.
