Hi there! I'm the Technical Operations Officer for British Ice Skating. I spend most of my time preparing databases for the adminstration of figure skating competitions, but I also try to develop tools to help make the main part of my job easier.
I currently have two public facing programs:
- FSM Web Uploader: an FTP client for managing the website produced by FS Manager, Swiss Timing's figure skating judging system software. Uses a filesystem watcher to update the site as new results are published, and is capable of making arbitrary edits to the HTML code before uploading to the remote.
- BIS Dance Draw Randomiser: a simple command line application to allow (pseudo-) random, reproducible draws for pattern dances where an in person drawing is not required. Used by BIS for many in-house competitions.
I'm also the primary admin of bisresults.co.uk, so if you have any questions about something you see on there, I'm the first port of call.
Aside from this, I'm always working on something in the background, and hope to be open sourcing more stuff in the future. If you're also in the world of skating results and want to talk about stuff you're working on, potential for collaboration or anything else results related, please reach out!
Any questions, please direct them to robert.hayes@iceskating.org.uk.
