in oracle#910 (comment) you said push to this branch, but it seems I don't have collaborator privs, hence this PR.

Thank you for the quick update. At a first look it looks ok. Unfortunately we cannot test it at the moment. It seems that github does only allow repository owners to modify the branch. Do you how I can tell github to allow you to push on branch svm/aarch64?

I would say we keep this PR open for now and continue without compressed pointers. (-H:-SpawnIsolates).

And both of us (and anyone else who we need to be) are collaborators.

It could be a place where we can collaborate on shared branches w/o opening up our personal stuff terribly much.
